Going to try and trace Russell Creek today, one of Toronto’s lost rivers. Started east of Bloor and Palmerston, let’s see if there are any traces left.

The creek used to parallel Palmerston all the way south of College. Old brick homes and a lack of elevation change tells me the headwaters were obliterated long ago.

More old brick structures. Maybe Bellevue Square used to be part of the creek, but it’s just a flat spot now.

Through the market and many back alleys. There might be slight minima on the landscape, but overall it seems to be for local drainage.

It all just slopes down with the street grid, into sewers that go to the lake. There’s no creek here. Sweet views though.

The creek flowed through Metro Hall and Pecaut Square to the lake at Front Street, once upon a time. Still no signs, core development has obliterated everything. That’s today’s walk.
